The application process for a Canadian eTA is uncomplicated, speedy, and requires only a few effortless steps. It is not necessary to schedule an appointment with a visa office, an applicant can choose any place as long as there is a stable internet connection.
Take your device (smartphone, tablet, laptop, or PC), make digital copies of your documentation, and follow the guidelines:
- Complete the form. The online application form will require you to provide your name, surname, birth date, and nationality, as well as passport and travel-related details. Ensure the information does not contain mistakes.
- Attach documents. Try to make the copies of documents as clear as possible.
- Make the payment. Use a scanner or take photos using a smartphone camera or PC web camera.

Necessary documents for an eTA Canada
The proper documentation for a Canadian eTA depends on the traveler’s nationality. Citizens of all eligible countries must hold a passport that does not expire for at least 6 months from the date of intended entry into Canada.
Certain countries, for example, Argentina, are required to provide additional documents. Citizens from 13 countries that recently have been added to the eligible countries list must upload one of the documents below:
- a Canadian visa held at any point within the last 10 years
- a current US non-immigrant visa
